Ms. Melisa Kurter is an experienced lawyer specializing in the complex aspects of international criminal law that form the basis of extradition cases in Dubai and the UAE. Her expertise covers human rights, data governance, and, crucially, the practicalities of handling INTERPOL notices—a key instrument in modern extradition proceedings faced by residents and visitors in Dubai.

Her academic background is truly global in scope. After receiving a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the prestigious Marmara University in Türkiye, she pursued a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice. This program was jointly conducted by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in Italy and the University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica, giving her a profound understanding of how international legal systems interact.

Ms. Kurter’s practical experience is unique. She has worked at the very heart of international justice—the Office of the Prosecutor at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in The Hague. This experience with war crimes cases at the UN level gave her a unique perspective on the procedural intricacies and standards of evidence in international law. Furthermore, her role as a research intern at the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) underscores her commitment to human rights, a critical aspect when challenging extradition requests. Her early career experience in Türkiye with criminal litigation and complex commercial crimes provides a solid foundation for handling the most intricate cases.
